What creams will reduce rosacea?

Here are some of the popular options used to treat Rosacea:

Topical creams:
It seems that at least some cases the rosacea are due to a response to a parasite called Demodex. This parasite populates the sebaceous glands. Treatment gels that contain metronidazole or ivermectin may help in these cases.
Commercial names are Metronidazole gel 0.75% or 1%, MetroGel, Noritate, MetroLotion, Ivermectin cream, and 1% Solantra.
Another topical option to reduce redness can be one the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory creams Elidel.

Oral Antibiotics:
Different oral antibiotics, especially minocycline can destroy p. acnes bacteria and reduce skin inflammation in rosacea.

Lasers or IPLs:
lasers or intense pulsed light devices (IPL) to collapse the enlarged blood vessels in the rosaceous skin and reduce skin redness.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT):
One of the newest treatments for Rosacea is photodynamic therapy (PDT). In PDT, a substance called Amino Levulinic Acid (ALA). is applied to the skin. This material is selectively absorbed by the sebaceous glands and some of the superficial skin capillaries. After about an hour and skin is exposed to blue light or red light. These special wavelengths of light trigger a chemical reaction in the skin - called a Photodynamic reaction. The advantage of PDT for Rosacea is that it does not require expensive laser treatments, hospitalization or anesthesia. PDT has frequently good cosmetic results without the risk of hyperpigmentation after treatment.
