I've taken oral antibiotics for a long time, but stopped. Since then, I've been getting worse acne than before — why?

Hi. This is very common. Acne treatment has 2 steps. First control of most of your active acne. This usually will take around 3 months. Second long-term prevention of new people. This step is important, since the tendency to have acne breakouts last on the average 8 years. Antibiotics do not have a long-term effect. They are useful to reduce active acne but should be always followed by a long-term maintenance treatment with anti-acne creams. Thus, even if your skin is clear due to the oral antibiotics that you used, you need to continue to use an anti-acne routine for many months. This should include the use of the same acne cleansers and the application of a mild anti-acne cream all over your face every day or two. Women should also continue to use oil free make-up and consider birth control pills to control hormonal changes.
