Overview

The Retinol Treatment System allows your skin to adjust to Retinol by starting the treatment with Retinol 0.25% and then switching to Retinol 0.5%. It combines the magic of pure Retinol with Niacinamide. Pure Retinol works to unclog pores and prevent acne blemishes and fine wrinkles without over-drying the skin. The Niacinamide (vitamin B3), a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient, hydrates the skin, improves the skin's texture, and helps fade post-acne dark spots.

Size: 2 creams, 0.5 oz each

Key Ingredients

Pure Retinol 0.25% + 0.5%
A powerful Retinoid that is converted in the skin to active Retinoic acid. It increases the skin's cell turnover, unclogs pores, and helps reduce the appearance of blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Niacinamide 2.0% + 4.0%
A form of vitamin B3. It enhances the skin's protective barrier and helps reduce the appearance of blemishes, large pores, and hyperpigmentation.

Treatment Boosters

🌱 Tea tree oil
Potent antimicrobial and antifungal with proven medical-grade efficacy for acne.

🌿 Aloe Vera leaf extract
A powerful antioxidant that hydrates and reduces redness and irritation.

🌼 Chamomile Extract
An effective antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal with potent skin-soothing properties.

🌸 Calendula Officinalis Extract

🌻 Sunflower extract

🎋 Licorice extract
A potent antioxidant that prevents and helps fade brown spots.

How to Use

Start with your 0.25% Retinol. Apply the Retinol cream at night on clean, dry skin. In the beginning, apply it twice per week, and gradually increase the application frequency. Apply a pea-sized amount to your finger and touch the four areas of your face: forehead, chin, and the two cheeks, avoiding contact with eyes, eyelids, and lips. Always apply sunscreen when outdoors.

Once you are out of your 0.25% Retinol cream, switch to the 0.5%, Retinol. Keep in mind that it's 2X more potent. In the beginning, apply it twice per week, and gradually increase the application frequency.

Retinol products are not recommended for use by pregnant or nursing mothers.

Your questions, answered

What is the MDacne Retinol Treatment System and how does it work?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System is a two-cream starter set: 0.25% retinol with 2% niacinamide, followed by 0.5% retinol with 4% niacinamide. You build tolerance on the lower strength, then step up, so you get retinol's renewal with less irritation.

Is the MDacne Retinol Treatment System better than starting retinol on its own?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System builds in the ramp-up for you, which matters because most people quit retinol after starting too strong and peeling. Finish the 0.25% cream first, then move to the 0.5%, with niacinamide in both to hydrate and calm redness. Best for anyone new to retinol.

MDacne Retinol Treatment System or a single retinol cream — which should you buy?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System is the better buy if you are new to retinol and want both strengths together, which costs less than buying the two creams separately. Choose a single MDacne retinol cream if you already know which strength your skin tolerates and want to restock it.

How long does the MDacne Retinol Treatment System take to show results?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System includes two 0.5 oz creams, so the set covers roughly two months. Texture and tone usually improve by week six to eight on the 0.25% cream, and results keep building after you switch to the 0.5%.

How do you use the two creams in the MDacne Retinol Treatment System?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System starts with the 0.25% cream at night on clean, dry skin, twice weekly, increasing gradually. Use a pea-sized amount across forehead, chin and cheeks. When that cream runs out, switch to the 0.5% and again begin at twice weekly.

Who should not use the MDacne Retinol Treatment System?

The MDacne Retinol Treatment System is not recommended if you are pregnant or nursing, because both creams contain retinol. Expect some dryness or flaking when you start each strength, and lower the frequency until it passes. Wear sunscreen daily, because retinol makes skin more sensitive to sun.

Disappointing Customer Experience
I have been using MDacne for 1 year and 5 months. Unfortunately, I have had two disappointing experiences with this company, which I want to share with you, so you can understand what you might be getting into. My subscription was shipped on October 31, 2024. This time, the company separated the retinol treatment from the rest of the subscription, so I received two tracking numbers. A week later, I received the main subscription. When I tracked the second shipment, UPS displayed the message: "UPS doesn’t have possession of the package yet. Estimated delivery date will be available as soon as we get the package." Another week passed, and the status remained the same, so I contacted customer support. A representative, "L," responded: "I've checked the tracking information for the rest of your order and see that your package was delivered on November 6! Have you had a chance to check for it yet? It may be hiding in the mailbox." Clearly, she hadn't read my message carefully and used her templates to respond to my inquiries. I had explicitly stated that there were two packages—one of which I had already received—and I was inquiring about the one that hadn’t arrived. Another representative, "M," then stepped in, providing standard explanations and saying: "That being said, not to worry, if we still don't see an update by November 21, 2024, we'd be happy to process a replacement or issue a refund from there." She also sent me an article titled "Lost in Transit." Following her advice, I waited another week until yesterday, only to find that UPS still hadn’t received the package. I sent M a follow-up message requesting the promised refund and asking to cancel my account. Deep down, I suspected I wouldn’t receive the refund given how they had been handling my case. As expected, M responded: "As carriers have advised that, although there may not be any recent tracking updates, the packages are still in transit and should be on their way to you. Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to consider the package as 'lost in transit.'” She added that there was no guarantee on the delivery date or time and shared another article for me to read. I wasn’t surprised by their refusal to refund my money, given their unprofessionalism. However, they never should have promised a refund in the first place. When UPS clearly shows that the package never arrived at their facility, why does this company insist that it’s "in transit"? What, then, is their definition of "Lost in Transit"? Is this a tactic to take customers' money without fulfilling orders? I’ll leave that question for you to consider. Also, it is just unprofessional to use templates to respond to customer's inquiry. If you want to market yourself as a "caring", "customer-oriented" business, you need to make sure that you LISTEN to your customers and INDIVIDUALIZE the response. 2. When I first started the subscription, I was advised to take the daily supplement, DIM. When the supplement arrived, I noticed that the expiry date had already passed. I immediately contacted customer support, and they claimed it was the manufacturer's fault—the expiry date was misprinted for that batch. Trusting their explanation, I assumed the expiry date would be correct in the next subscription two months later. However, when the next subscription arrived, the company had used a sticker with an extended expiry date to cover the "misprinted" expiry date. The sticker was poorly applied and fell off the bottle when I took the bottle out of the package. After that, I stopped the supplement. I am not sure expired supplement would do any harm to my body, but my trust to this company decreased significantly. I am not expecting anything from this company anymore. The money I lost will be for buying the experience. There are more than enough skincare products out there in the market. I will prefer to shop with peace of mind to always feeling nervous about my shipments and the expiry date of the products.
